The Invisalign Treatment Process
Scheduling an Appointment
Invisalign is not appropriate for everyone, so it's important to schedule an initial consultation with our dentist to see if you qualify for this treatment.
Building a Treatment Plan
If you qualify for Invisalign, our dentist will begin customizing a plan for you. This process involves taking comprehensive 3D digital images of your teeth. These are used to not only create your custom-made aligners, but also to show you how your teeth will move into proper alignment over time.
As mentioned earlier, the Invisalign system uses a set of transparent aligners. They are BPA-free, so they're free from the toxins many plastic materials contain. These aligners can be removed easily, making it extremely convenient to brush and floss your teeth and eat as you normally would.
The Progress of your Treatment
Although Invisalign aligners are removable, our dentist recommends wearing them the majority of the day and night--usually about 22 hours per day. Additionally, we will replace your Invisalign aligners throughout the treatment as your teeth begin to shift into place. Our staff will schedule periodic appointments to monitor your progress and make any necessary changes.
Our dentist will provide you with instructions to properly clean and care for your aligners. After eating, brush your teeth and clean the aligners before reinserting them. After your Invisalign treatment is complete, our dentist may recommend wearing a retainer that will look and feel similar to your aligners. A retainer ensures your teeth don't shift back out of alignment, reversing all the progress made during treatment.
